Verena proves to a website that a real person is present, without puzzles and without sharing who you are. When a website that uses Verena asks you to verify, the app opens and confirms your presence with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode.
Verification always starts from a website. Open the website that asked you to verify and tap its Verena button; the app (or the Verena App Clip) opens and completes the check. If you open the app directly, it only shows whether this device is registered.
This deletes the credential from this device and its public key from our server. The next time a website asks you to verify, Verena will ask you to register this device again. Deleting is also useful if verification keeps failing and you want to start fresh.
Yes. Your credential is tied to the secure hardware of the device you registered and is never synced or backed up, so it does not move to a new phone. Register the new device the next time a website asks you to verify.
Your face, fingerprint and passcode never leave your device; iOS checks them, not Verena. The website receives a proof that a registered device and a present person confirmed the request, not your name, contacts or location. See the Privacy Policy for details.
